Texas Creek, CO Area Campgrounds

Texas Creek, CO Area Campgrounds
Campers looking for outdoor adventure could hardly do better than to pitch their tents near Texas Creek, Colorado. This little town on the Arkansas River is literally surrounded by national forests, state parks and wildlife conservation areas. The river itself offers whitewater rafting and fishing, and the surrounding forests and mountains offer nature watching, hiking, biking and climbing.

Sweetwater River Ranch

Located within the Texas Creek town limits, the 31-acre Sweetwater River Ranch offers a campground right on the banks of the Arkansas River. Most of the tent sites are walk-in sites located in a campground across the Arkansas and accessible by a foot bridge. All of these sites have fire rings and picnic tables, and the campground is serviced by showers and water taps. It also offers what are essentially backcountry campsites at more remote locations on the property. The ranch has a half mile of riverfront flowing through the property, offering immediate access to trout fishing. There are also hiking and biking trails in the area, as well as whitewater rafting opportunities. The campground is a good place to get out the binoculars and look for bighorn sheep or eagles.
