Campgrounds at Lake Chatuge, Georgia
Lake Chatuge sprawls across the Georgia and North Carolina state line providing visitors with 128 miles of shoreline. The lake is a scenic environment for swimming, boating and fishing. Other activities include hiking along the Chatuge Dam, which is 144 feet high, allowing a panoramic view of the lake and of the surrounding Tusquitee Mountains.

Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds has two camping areas with a combined total of 189 sites for tents and RVs. The campground is open for RVs year-round, but tent camping is only permitted from April through October. The first area allows tent and RV camping and consists of 92 grassy sites with water and 50-amp electrical hookups, wireless Internet and cable TV. The second area is only for RVs and features 97 paved campsites with water, sewage and 50-amp electrical hookups, wireless Internet and cable TV. Pets are permitted but must be leashed at all times. Amenities include restrooms, tennis courts, playgrounds, a boat ramp and sheltered picnic areas.

Jackrabbit Mountain Campground

Jackrabbit Mountain is located on a peninsula extending into the center of Lake Chatuge and is open from early May to late September. This campground has 100 campsites for tents and RVs including three handicapped accessible sites. No hookups are available in the campground, but drinking water and a sanitary dump station are located on the premises. Other amenities include restrooms with showers, charcoal grills, picnic tables and a boat ramp. The area surrounding the campground features sandy beach areas and hiking trails. Fishing, swimming and boating are permitted on the lake.

Bald Mountain Park Camping Resort

Bald Mountain Camping Resort is approximately 4 miles South of Lake Chatuge. The campground is located in a wooded area and features 265 campsites ranging from tent sites to pull-through for large RVs. Available hookups include water, 30- or 50-amp electric, sewer and cable TV. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring, and wireless Internet is available throughout the campground. Amenities consist of restrooms and showers, outdoor swimming pool, playground, arcade room, baseball field, 18-hole miniature golf course and shuffleboard, basketball and volleyball courts. This resort also features a 3-acre private lake for kayaking, paddle boating, fishing and swimming.
