Golden Krust

This Jamaican bakery and grill located in Belmont is a local favorite for its delicious classics, like jerk chicken sandwich and fried plantains. There are vegetarian options available as well. For those who are looking for a lighter snack, there are plenty of baked goods to try, including bulla cakes and rum cakes. La Caridad Restaurant

Take a morning bike ride through Jerome Park and afterward have lunch at La Caridad. This restaurant specializes in Spanish Caribbean, where the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The seafood soup special on Fridays is popular, which is soup brimming with lobster and crab legs. There are also foods such as sancocho, stuffed with yucca and chunks of meat and tres leches, a moist cake that is drenched in a sweet milk sauce.

Fauzia's Heavenly Delights

This popular food cart in Concourse Village may not look like much from afar, but despite initial appearances, the Caribbean-inspired food is superb. There is a limited supply of meat entrees, so make sure to arrive at the cart no later than one o'clock for lunch. There are choices for vegetarians, such as spinach and lentils, which are equally as delicious as their meat counterparts. Grab a few entrees and head to nearby Franz Sigel Park for a picnic and a leisurely walk.
