Dahlgren, Virginia is a small town on the Potomac River, about an hour and a half south of Washington, D.C. It is home to a US Naval Base. If you're visiting the area in your RV and want to camp near Dahlgren, you'll have several options. Nearby you'll also find many opportunities for hiking, kayaking, sailing, biking or exploring the nearby wineries.

Lagrande Resort RV

Situated on Maryland's Eastern Shore, southeast of Dahlgren, Lagrande Resort RV is a family-friendly camp with 33 acres of wooded sites. The resort offers both 30 and 50 amp sites that all include water, electric and sewer hookups, and it accommodates RVs up to 40 feet long. The campground's store is open Monday through Saturday, year round, and you'll also find internet service and a laundry facility on the property. Leashed pets are welcome at Lagrande Resort, and there's also a playground and nature trail within the park.

Aquia Pines Camp Resort

The Aquia Pines Camp Resort is short drive northwest of Dahlgren, in Stafford. The resort offers both full hookup RV sites and primitive site for tent campers. At the resort you'll find many ways to keep the whole family busy, from basketball courts and playgrounds to a mini-golf course and a large outdoor pool. There are bathhouses with hot showers, laundry facilities and a campground store. Staying at this campground means you're close to many of the area's best attractions, like the monuments and museums of Washington, DC and the historic Civil War battlefields near Fredericksburg.

Pohick Bay Regional Park

The Pohick Bay Regional Park is on the Potomac River, north of Dahlgren. It has both primitive tent sites and full-hookup sites for RVs. There is a large outdoor free-form pool on the property, as well as one of the few public boat launches in the area. You can explore the river by boat, whether or not you brought your own, as the park rents out canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, and jon boats. Pohick Bay Regional Park is an ideal spot for nature lovers, as it has several trails where you can explore the flora and fauna of the area, and maybe even sight a bald eagle, as they are native to this region.
