Seven Springs Mountain Resort
Seven Springs Mountain Resort is located roughly one hour southeast of Pittsburgh. This is the largest ski resort in Pennsylvania. The resort consists of 285-acres of slopes and trails. You'll find beginner and intermediate runs as well as advanced black diamond slopes. The toughest slopes are the North Face and Goosebumps. Experts can also test their skills at the advanced terrain park and half-pipe. Multiple chair lifts and rope tows take you to the top of all the slopes. The resort is lighted for night skiing, so you can spend a full day and night on the mountain. Rent or purchase ski equipment at the Seven Springs Ski Center. Lessons can be arranged with instructors if necessary. In addition to the great mountain slopes, Seven Springs offers comfortable lodging at its onsite hotel as well as a game complex, lodge, multiple lounges, bars and restaurants. There's even an indoor sauna for those who want to indulge over the course of their time at Seven Springs. If you're looking for the most diverse range of skiing and snowboarding facilities in Pennsylvania, this is it. Keep in mind that the lift-ticket prices here are relatively high because of the quality and size of the resort.

Hidden Valley Resort
Hidden Valley Resort is another large ski resort near Pittsburgh. Also located approximately 1 hour outside of town, Hidden Valley features 25 slopes and trails with chair lifts and rope tows. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find plenty of easier runs, and experts can also tackle a few challenging slopes. Most of the runs are lighted for night skiing. Ski equipment can be purchased, repaired or rented at the ski shop. There's even a snow tubing park for those who want a change of pace. Warm up at the Hidden Valley Lodge between runs. Food and refreshments are sold here. Hidden Valley also offers rustic lodging at private cabins and condos around the mountain. Lift-tickets may be on the expensive side for some, but the beautiful scenery and well-maintained slopes help to justify this.

Boyce Park Ski Area
The Boyce Park Ski Area is just 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh in the eastern suburb of Plum. This is a tiny ski resort with affordable rates. The runs are short and not very difficult, making this the ideal spot for beginners to learn how to ski. Boyce Park has nine slopes including standard runs, moguls and jumps. The grounds are equipped for night skiing and there are several chair lifts and rope tows. This facility is relatively basic and not particularly scenic, but it's a good value for beginners who want an affordable ski experience in Pittsburgh.
