Top Restaurants in Portland
Outside Magazine lists Portland, Oregon as one of "The 10 Greatest Places to Live," recognizing the city's brilliant urban/nature balance. Portland offers 37,000 acres of parkland, vibrant waterfront and stunning mountain vistas. Two of the region's many golf courses made the Golf Digest list of best public courses and the coastal waters provide some of the best fishing anywhere in the world. After a day of outdoor activity, head to one of the city's finest restaurants for a relaxing meal.

McCormick & Schmick's Harborside at the Marina

McCormick & Schmick's Harborside is where the popular chain of upscale seafood restaurants all began. Bill McCormick and Doug Schmick purchased the 100-year-old building and lovingly restored it, creating an elegant space with awesome views and chic coastal decor. The menu offers as many as 30 different seafood items, depending on what is available locally. Expect small sharing plates of appetizers, plenty of shellfish and a lengthy list of fresh seafood that is sauteed, fried, poached and baked.

Henry's 12th Street Tavern

Henry's is housed in a 140-year-old brewery, one reason why the restaurant might boast about having more than 100 beers on tap. The menu offers a wonderful fusion of comfort food prepared with a gourmet attitude. Chianti espresso braised short ribs are a popular choice as is the old-fashioned, slow-roasted meatloaf. Fish lovers will want to try the spice-rubbed ahi tuna.
