O Sole Mio

This authentic Italian restaurant provides a low-key, casual atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. Recipient of News 12 Long Island's award for Best Appetizers in 2006, O Sole Mio serves up an extensive list of Italian favorites like golden fried calamari, artichokes stuffed with breadcrumbs, pignoli nuts and grated cheese, and toasted garlic bread. You can choose from over half a dozen salads (Caesar, insalata caprese, baby spinach Gorgonzola) to which you can add shrimp or grilled chicken. Pasta dishes include classics like spaghetti Bolognese, pesto linguine, and pasta primavera, as well as more unusual offerings like butternut squash ravioli. Choose from a variety of meat, chicken and fish dishes for your main course. Pizza also is available.

Extremely popular with SUNY students, faculty and employees, Cosmos Café specializes in pizza and hero sandwiches. Mushrooms, sausage, meatballs and anchovies are among the many toppings from which you can choose. Cosmos also offers a number of specialty pizzas, like Sicilian pie, stuffed pizza and Hawaiian red. Hearty hero sandwiches like meatball parmigiana, philly cheesesteak, and chicken cutlet are prepared in minutes. Pentimento

With its fresh homemade pastas, Italian style tapas and extensive wine list, Pentimento invites guests to enjoy an authentic Italian eating experience. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday (dinner only on Sunday) this popular Italian eatery emphasizes freshness and quality in its food preparation. Small plates include roasted Portobello mushroom stuffed with braised short rib and horseradish crème fraiche, cauliflower panna cotta with salmon caviar, spinach salad with pear, red onion, dried cranberries and toasted hazelnuts. Main course options include whole wheat pappardelle with Tuscan wild boar ragu, veal and mushroom ravioli with a butter sage sauce, and pan roasted arctic char served with organic quinoa, tomato vinagrette, scallion oil and broccoli. Save room for the homemade tiramisu or Tahitian vanilla bean crème brulee.
