The park is situated on the shores of Johnson Creek, a 30-foot wide stream that is filled with rainbow trout. Take the 40-minute drive to the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park; you'll be able to hike on the various side trails leading to Charlie's Bunion. In addition, you can hike the historic Appalachian Trail--a footpath from Maine to Georgia that passes right through the park .

Creekwood Farm RV Park

Creekwood Farm RV Park is also located right in Waynesville. This park offers the following amenities: 125 RV sites--26 creekside--with full hook-ups, 20-, 30-, or 50-amp service, and cable TV. The park also offers fully furnished cabins for campers without RVs or who like the comfort of four walls. Take the hour-and-a-half drive from Creekwood to Mt. Mitchell State Park and try your luck at the summit trail winding up to the crest of Mt. Mitchell.

Winngray Campground

Winngray Campground is another place for RV campers to bunk down while exploring the area around the Great Smoky Mountains. The RV campground offers full hookups, laundry facilities, showers, a general store, and a recreation room for social events and meetings. The campground is open year-round. Pisgah National Forest is just over an hour east of Winngray and offers trails, creeks, and rugged North Carolina mountains.
