Campgrounds Near Auburndale, Florida

Central Florida draws visitors from around the world to its theme parks, freshwater fishing, and skydiving. The city of Auburndale, near Lakeland in Polk County, provides visitors with a convenient location from which to explore these famous attractions, along with less well-known gems. Among these lesser-known activities are fossil hunting in Bone Valley and hang gliding near the Green Swamp. Hikers may participate in the annual Trek Ten Trails event, a year-long geocaching endeavor where participants are exposed to the diversity of ecosystems spread throughout this ecologically important section of Florida.

Cypress Campground & RV Park

Between Lake Wales and Winter Haven, twenty minutes southeast of Auburndale, Cypress Campground & RV Park provides tent campsites in addition to its full-hookup RV sites. Skydiving, hiking, kayaking, and fishing can be found in Lake Wales and the surrounding lakes, rivers, and forests. Within the campground, guests are provided with a pool, outdoor recreation areas (including shuffleboard, bocce ball, horseshoes, and miniature golf), Wi-Fi, bath house, picnic areas, and laundry.

Orlando Southwest / Fort Summit KOA

Less than 20 miles northeast of Auburndale on Interstate 4, the Orlando Southwest / Fort Summit KOA offers tent and RV campsites with electric and water hookups (and sewer for RVs). The campground provides a shuttle to the more popular tourist destinations in Kissimmee while visitors looking to paddle, hike, or bike the "road less traveled" can find multiple lakes and miles of trails in the surrounding countryside. A pool, wireless Internet, rest rooms, and laundry facilities provide the logistical support needed between adventures. Pets are welcome and cabin rentals are also available.

Saddle Creek Park & Campground

Less than ten minutes west of Auburndale, the Saddle Creek Park & Campground incorporates the trailhead for the Tenoroc Trail, which leads into the adjoining Tenoroc Fish Management Area. This trail that has earned a regular place on the Trek Ten Trails roster. Saddle Creek is on the site of a former phosphate mine that has since been converted into a county park with extensive lake coverage. Campers may pitch a tent on one of the lakefront campsites which provide electric and water hookups. In addition to the fishing, boating, hiking, and wildlife viewing available throughout the park, a gun range is available for shotguns, pistols, and rifles. Restrooms, picnic areas, and playgrounds are also provided for the comfort and convenience of guests.
