Scituate, MA is an historic town first settled in 1628. Shipbuilding and seafaring were early industries which continue to this day. Scituate Harbor is the port for a small fleet of commercial fishing boats as well as pleasure craft. Whale watching, deep sea fishing, beach walking and lighthouse climbing are popular outdoor activities. Hotels and Inns located around the harbor offer a variety of accommodations for travelers to the area.

The Oceanside Inn

The only bed and breakfast located on the ocean, the Oceanside Inn was once a New England beach house constructed in 1920. The Inn features a large public living room decorated with antiques and an outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. Breakfast is served on the deck or the dining room and includes fresh-baked breads and muffins, fresh fruit, and local specialties from quiche to hearty breakfast casseroles. Each room has a private balcony, cable TV, paddle fans, feather beds, goose-down comforters and private sitting areas. Rooms have either a four-poster queen-size bed or a canopied king-size bed and are named for a local lighthouse. High-speed Internet is available in all rooms.

The Cohasset Harbor Resort

The Cohasset Harbor Resort is located directly on the small harbor at Cohasset. The Inn features an indoor heated pool, continental breakfast, and an outdoor dining area with umbrella tables on the waterside. The Atlantica Restaurant and the Olde Salt House Restaurant are part of the resort. The Inn is a 15-minute walk to Cohasset Village and a 20-minute walk to Sandy beach. Jogging and walking trails are available. The Inn at Scituate Harbor features 29 guest rooms with a view of the Scituate Harbor. Each room is decorated with colonial antiques in a nautical style. Bed options include one king, one queen, a queen plus a single, a double plus a single, two doubles or a suite with two queens. Rooms feature cable TV, Wi-Fi access, refrigerators, iPod docking stations and Crabtree & Evelyn bath products. The Inn offers continental breakfast, an indoor swimming pool, and an outdoor waterside deck where visitors can watch lobster boats pull into the fisherman's wharf to unload their daily catch.
