Anna Maria Island, Florida is a great destination for canoeists and kayakers. Visitors can paddle in Terra Ceia Preserve State Park, or they can just paddle around Anna Maria Island itself. From Anna Maria paddlers also can hop their way to Fort De Soto Park by making the passage to Passage Key National Wildlife Refuge, then to Egmont National Wildlife Refuge, followed by another passage to Fort De Soto. All of these passages are under two miles each.

Trade Winds Beach Resort

Trade Winds Beach Resort has 31 cottages, all of which have a kitchen, bath, one living room and a sleeper sofa. The North Cottages have a private deck or patio, while the South Cottages have outdoor porch areas. Amenities include a private beach, a large bay front heated swimming pool, private fishing dock, high-speed wireless Internet, free phone calls, cable television and some cottages are pet friendly. Terra Ceia Preserve State Park is only 19 miles away. For paddlers wishing to explore Passage Key Wildlife Refuge, Egmont National Wildlife Refuge or make the passage to Fort De Soto, they can launch their kayaks or canoes from the Anna Maria Municipal Pier, which is six miles from the Trade Winds.

Queen's Gate Resort

Queen's Gate resort has two-bedroom cottages available. Each cottage has full size appliances, microwave oven, cable television with DVD player or VCR, air conditioning, heat, in-cottage phone, dishes and cookware. Amenities include a private beach, free high-speed wireless Internet, an outdoor pool and cottages are pet friendly. Terra Ceia Preserve is 19 miles from the Queen's Gate. Guests wishing to paddle around Ana Maria Island, or over to Passage Key, Egmont key or Fort De Soto, can launch their kayaks or canoes from the Anna Maria Municipal Pier. The pier is only five and a half miles away.

Bungalow Beach Resort

The Bungalow Beach Resort has one-, two- and three-room cottages. Each cottage has air conditioning, cable television, full kitchen, microwave, full-size refrigerator, ceiling fan, skylight, dishes and assorted pots. Some cottages also have Jacuzzis and porches. Amenities include a 10 foot by 24 foot heated pool with waterfall, a cabana area, grills and a private beach area. Terra Ceia Preserve is only 20 miles from the Bungalow Beach Resort. Paddlers who wish to paddle around the island, or over to Fort De Soto Park, can launch their kayaks and canoes from the Anna Maria Municipal Pier.
