State Campgrounds at Silver Lake, Michigan
Silver Lake State Park is approximately 3,000 acres made of forest and sand dunes at the edge of Lake Michigan. Michigan state parks and recreation areas stay open year-round for day use and at Silver Lake State Park the campgrounds are open seasonally. All Michigan state parks have a non-refundable camping reservation fee of $8, a site transfer fee of $5 and a cancellation fee of $10, as of 2009. There are endless opportunities for exploration in nearly 2,000 acres of sand dunes, by Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) riding in the large designated area and water activities on Lake Michigan.
 

Silver Lake Modern Campground

Enjoy more than four miles of shoreline along the coast of Lake Michigan and stay at the modern Silver Lake state campground. This campground includes modern restrooms, electric hook-ups, and has 200 sites. Site fees run $27 in the peak season and $16 in the off season, as of 2009. Many people enjoy the popular 450-acre off road vehicle area nearby. There is also a nearby beach house, boat launch, picnic areas and shelters for family gatherings. Vehicle permits are required for the campsites as well as the ORV trail. There are opportunities for metal detecting, swimming, hiking, boating, hunting, fishing, and to take part in the Michigan State Park Explorer Program.

Sandy Shores Campground and Resort

This is a clean, roomy, and grassy family run campground at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, right next to Silver Lake State Park. There are 214 total sites. Site options include water and electric hook-up or full hook-up which is available at 14 sites. Rates are based on two adults and three children per site. Regular rates run from May 1 to September 30 and in between is the discounted off season. The reservation desk is closed on weekends before May 1. Pets are to be on a leash at all times and fires are to stay within fire rings provided. Sandy Shores has the added advantage of the only private beach (180 feet) on Silver Lake, and boat slips are available by reservation. There is also a playground, volleyball and basketball courts, and heated swimming pool open from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.

Cottonwood Creek RV Resort

This beautiful natural setting offers large wooded campsites minutes from Lake Michigan, Silver Lake Sand Dunes, and the 22 mile Hart Montague bike trail. Clean, private showers and restrooms are available as well as 20/30 amp electric hookups at 86 sites. There is also creek fishing, maintained hiking trails, a playground, and a volleyball court onsite. Rates are based on two adults and up to four children under 18 at per site. One camping unit and one vehicle are allowed per site. Firewood must be bought at the campground and used only in designated campfire pits. Two pets are allowed per site, but must be monitored and on a leash at all times. Also nearby is the historic Little Sable Point Lighthouse (1873), which offers tours on weekends in the summer months.
