Dallas, Colorado, located in the southwest corner of the state, is a small mountain town between the two separate areas of the Uncompahgre National Forest. The town is filled with opportunities for outdoor recreation, both on the nearby rivers and creeks, as well as in the surrounding forests. RV campers, however, will need to drive a bit further down the road (about 30 minutes) to Montrose to find ample RV camping.

Cedar Creek RV Park

Cedar Creek RV Park, located right in Montrose, is a camping spot for tenters and RVers but also has mini-golf, so families will fit right in. Amenities include 43 sites for RVs (many of which are pull-throughs), wireless Internet and full hookups (water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric). Some of the sites fit big rigs, too. Nearby is Gunnison National Park and Black Canyon (12 miles) where you can hike through the bottom of the canyon.

Kings Riverbend RV Park and Cabins

Kings Riverbend RV Park, also located in Montrose, is a full-service site for long- and short-term visitors. There are 60 sites, all with full hookups, sites for big rigs, and 20/30/50-amp service for electricity. The sites also include fire pits for barbecuing, and laundry facilities. Nearby, campers will find Chipeta Lake, where hiking trails abound and you can also go boating.

Montrose RV Resort is near downtown Montrose and only about 35 minutes from Dallas, Colorado. The site is open-year round and caters to short- and long-term residents. Big rig RVs can be accommodated, and there are large pull-through sites. Other amenities include 20/30/50-amp electrical service, free wireless Internet, and fire rings. Nearby are Gunnison National Park, Black Canyon and Orvis Hot Springs, where you can take a soak in the natural springs after a long hike.
