Consistent warm weather makes Texas's Rio Grande Valley a popular camping destination year-round. The Rio Grande itself offers opportunities for activities from whitewater rafting to tropical bird-watching, and towns like Brownsville, McAllen, and Harlingen offer plenty of great restaurants, parks, and events. If you're visiting the area to explore the great outdoors, there are many campgrounds in the Rio Grande Valley from which you can choose.

Chimney Park RV Resort

Located on the banks of the Rio Grande, Chimney Park RV Resort offers many amenities with the rental of its RV sites. You'll find a swimming pool, spa, billiards room, recreations center, and games like horseshoes, shuffleboard, and bingo. Because of its waterfront location, Chimney Park also offers free fishing, a boat ramp, and even docks, if you're bringing your own boat. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the campground and a picnic area that overlooks the river. Nearby you'll find the Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park, as well as a birding center and butterfly park.

Victoria Palms Resort

The Victoria Palms Resort is located in the small town of Donna, Texas, between McAllen and Harlingen. It caters to campers who want to "winter" in the Rio Grande Valley, but it also welcomes short-term visitors year round. At the large resort you'll find a swimming pool, two spas, an 18-hole golf course, a health club, tennis court, a huge clubhouse and activity center, a restaurant and even a poolside bar. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the campground, and RV hookups include cable with over 100 channels.

Breeze Lake Campground

Located on a small lake in Brownsville, Texas, the Breeze Lake Campground is filled with palm trees and flowers. You can choose a sunny or shady site for your RV from among the 187 in the campground, and all of them come with full hookups, free cable TV, and free Wi-Fi access. There is free fishing in the on-site lake, laundry facilities, a recreation hall, and plenty of planned activities. Nearby you'll find beauitful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, many golf courses, rafting on the Rio Grande, hiking local trails and a lot of great bird-watching.
