Harlingen has hosted the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival every year since the early 90's. This five-day event draws attention to the fact that the area around Harlingen is one of the best places in the country to spot species of birds while you take advantage of the hiking and biking trails in the area.

Tropic Winds RV Resort has 245 available full hookup spaces with 30/50 amp electric and room for slideouts. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry and church were services are held every Sunday. The interior and exterior roads are paved and in good condition. Recreation on the site of this Harlingen RV resort includes swimming in the heated pool, playing shuffleboard or horseshoes, a recreation hall and game room. You can also get in some sand court volleyball or practice your putting on the practice green. Afterwards, soothe your tired muscles in the spa. Just a few miles away from Tropic Winds is the 50 acres of the Hugh Ramsey Nature Park.

Sunshine RV Resort has 571 available sites with full hookup that includes 30/50 amp electric. Of these, 493 sites are paved pads and 78 are grass sites. Twenty-five sites offer pull-through access. There is a church offering Sunday services, bathrooms, showers, RV storage, a library and a restaurant. The interior and exterior roads are all paved and in good condition. You can take a swim in the heated pool or relax in the spa. Head outdoors to play shuffleboard or horseshoes are exercise inside the fitness center or play games inside the rec hall. An hour away from Sunshine RV Resort is Port Isabel which offers swimming, fishing and boating.
