Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, offers visitors a variety of outdoor activities, including downhill skiing, hiking, camping and canoeing on the Chippewa River. This charming town is located in central Michigan and features a historic downtown area with shopping and fine dining restaurants. Spend a little time at the Soaring Eagle Casino when you've had your fill of the city's outdoor adventures.

Isabella County Deerfield Nature Park

The Deerfield Nature Park is a 591 acre park featuring a 10-site remote campground that is accessible via a one mile hike or a canoe trip down the Chippewa River. Restrooms and showers are not located at the campground, but a hand water pump provides drinking water. Visitors can explore eight miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. Other nearby activities include a sledding hill, fishing and boating on the Chippewa River, volleyball, horseshoes and an 18-hole disc golf course. This park also has several picnic areas and a sandy beach area for swimmers.

Isabella County Fairgrounds

The Isabella County Fairgrounds has 73 grass RV campsites with 45 pull-through sites and 28 back-in sites. The campground is open from approximately early April to mid-October. Each site features water and electric hookups and a dump station is located on the premises. Restrooms are found just outside of the camping area, but showers are not available. The fairgrounds is home to 4-H events throughout the summer and hosts a flea market every Wednesday from May to October.

Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe Campground

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe Campground is known locally as "The Hill" and is located on a dead end street in a lightly wooded area. This campground offers free shuttle service to and from the Soaring Eagle casino, which is less than two miles away. Each of the 45 campsites on The Hill offer water and electric hookups, a fire ring with a cooking grate and a picnic table. The campground's amenities include restrooms, showers, coin-operated laundry facilities, a free game room, an outdoor swimming pool and an RV dump station.
