Campgrounds & RV Resorts Near Mobile, Alabama
Mobile is on the southwest coast of Alabama, along the Mobile River and Mobile Bay. Nicknamed "The Port City," the Port of Mobile is the state's only seaport. The surrounding area has lakes, bays, rivers and the Gulf of Mexico, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, canoeing and wildlife-viewing. Campers visiting the area will find both wooded and waterfront sites.

Meaher State Park

The 1,327-acre Meaher State Park is about 7 miles from Mobile in Spanish Fort. The park is along the Mobile Delta's wetlands from Mobile Bay. The wooded campground has 56 sites with 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, fire ring and picnic table. The sites are shaded, with select accommodations for big rigs and pull-thrus. Tent camping sites offer seclusion and privacy. The park has a bath house, laundry facility and picnic area. Pets are allowed. There are two self-guided nature trails where visitors can explore the area's wildlife. Boaters and anglers can launch their boats at the park or fish on the 300-foot pier.

Chickasabogue Park

Chickasabogue Park encompasses 1,100 acres on Chickasaw Creek. The park is a wildlife refuge, so enthusiasts will appreciate the different species of animals and birds in the area. The campground is in an oak/pine hammock and has 38 sites for RVs with water, electricity and sewer, or electricity and water only. There are pull-thru sites. Tent campers have 23 private and secluded sites away from RVs that have electricity and water. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. Hikers or boaters can utilize the park's primitive and back-country sites. The park has restrooms, a picnic area, museum and swimming. There are 11 miles of hiking trails. The park has a boat ramp and canoe rentals, where visitors can explore and fish Chickasaw Creek.

Shady Acres Campground

Located just outside the city limits of Mobile, Shady Acres Campground has 92 sites. The campground is lined with pine trees and sites have 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. There are pull-thru accommodations. The campground has a dump station, bath house, laundry facility and sells propane. Boaters and anglers can utilize the campground's fishing pier or boat ramp, and fish and explore the Dog River. Bird-watchers are approximately 18 miles from Dauphin Island and the 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary, where visitors can hike the area's trails and view the area's wildlife and bird population. The campground is 2 miles from public boat launches into Mobile Bay.
