Hotels near Killam, Alberta
The one-square-mile town of Killam, in East Central Alberta, is at the crossroads of Highways 13 and 36. The town has become popular as a countryside stopover between Edmonton and Winnipeg, as well as the U.S. border and Fort McMurray, Alberta. The area also is ripe with oil and gas fields--though it's still a scenic tourist area just outside of the northern lake country. Killam has many draws--not the least of which is its size--such as the indoor swimming pool, bowling lanes and playground of the central Killam Agriplex off Highway 13, as well as a few parks and its rural, countryside charm.

Killam Krossing Hotel

Killam Krossing Hotel and its hosts, Seb and Vera Stang, pride themselves on giving guests a home away from home. The hotel is easily the most popular in town, being right in the center--which isn't saying much, it's roughly three blocks wide--along highway 13. The hotel's rooms are spacious and all of them come equipped with high-speed Internet and satellite television. The in-house dining room serves up home cooking and daily drink specials are offered in the lounge. There's even an on-site convenience store that is open 24 hours a day.

Pioneer Hotel

In the town of Sedgewick, five miles east of Killam on highway 13, the Pioneer Hotel offers rooms to passerby and drinks to the locals (guests also are welcome in the bar). Owner Brenda Voros hosts game nights in the hotel's bar, so stays can be a little loud some nights; alternatively, Pioneer hotel is just a block east of the Sedgewick Hotel and Burger Bar, but the same issues are likely to arise. If you're in the mood for drinks and grub, Sedgewick may be a better choice than neighboring Killam.
