Campgrounds in North Conway, New Hampshire
North Conway, New Hampshire, because of its spectacular location in a valley that runs between two mountain ranges, attracts a lot of summer visitors. Most head for the White Mountain National Forest, which surrounds the town. Others might opt for a shopping splurge in one of the North Conway's many retail outlets. No matter what your reason for visiting this popular New Hampshire resort, there are many choices in the area for campers.

State Parks

The nearest New Hampshire State Park campground to North Conway is the Crawford Notch State Park, which is located 10 miles north on Route 302 as it begins its descent through the notch and by the historic Bretton Woods Hotel. Many great hiking trails abound in the area including footpaths up Mt. Willard and Frankenstein Cliff. Trailheads for these hikes can easily be found on the other side of the highway. The park is open to vehicular traffic from Memorial Day until the middle of October, with reservations being essential. Several other state park campgrounds are located in the area. The campground has flush toilets and hot showers. The price for one night is around $25.

National Forest Campground at White Ledge

The White Mountain National Forest Campground at White Ledge is located about 10 miles south of North Conway. This rustic campground (no showers or hookups) is just one of many located within the national forest. The campground is situated on the west side of Highway 16, just south of the Kancamagus Highway, a spectacular wilderness road through the heart of the White Mountains. There are many more national forest campgrounds along "The Kanc," as it heads west from the village of Conway. All campgrounds in the White Mountain National Forest are managed by Pro-Sport Inc. Rates for this campground are less than $20 per night.

Saco River Camping Area

Just south of town on Highway 16, the Saco River Camping Area offers campsites along the river, as well as canoe and kayak rentals. Rental prices include shuttle service to various points on the Saco River, a slow-moving body of water that provides many great places to paddle both in New Hampshire and nearby Maine. This campground has full service hookups, cable TV, tent sites, Wi-Fi and a swimming pool. Rates vary from $30 to $50 dollars. The campground is open from May 12 until Oct. 14.

Beach Family Campground

Right on the Saco River along Highway 16, just south of the 302 junction, is the Beach Family Campground, which has its own beachfront and numerous campsites. Hookups are available, and the facilities include showers, laundry, dump stations, electricity and cable TV. The location is close to town and rates vary between $30 and $40 per night.
