Campgrounds in Washington County, Minnesota
Washington County, Minnesota, borders St. Paul County, where part of the Twin Cities are located. Washington County has many lakes, hiking trails and parks, offering many different types of outdoor recreation. Anglers can drop a line in the many lakes, or flip the fly-fishing rod into the streams and creeks for trout or Arctic grayling. Canoeing and kayaking can be had on the many lakes within the county and region. There are several campgrounds to base-camp from.

St. Paul East RV Park

St. Paul East RV Park has sites for tent and RV travelers. Tent sites include fire pits and picnic tables. RV sites include water, sewer, cable TV and 30- or 50-amp electric. All guests have access to showers, bathrooms and laundry. Pets are allowed. Woodbury, where the campground is located, has a series of trails for biking, running and hiking. Kayaking and canoeing are available at the lake within the park or other area lakes.

William O'Brien State Park

William O'Brien State Park has campground sites for tents and RVs. Tent sites are primitive, and RV sites can come that way or with partial hookups of water and 30-amp electric. During the spring and summer months, there are showers and water for drinking and cooking. Pit toilets are on the grounds for guest use. Leashed pets are allowed. Guests will be able to hike, mountain bike, fish, canoe and kayak within the park.

Afton State Park

Afton State Park is another campground option for Washington County area visitors. Afton campground features tent sites, with fire pits and tables, and RV areas, which have picnic tables, fire pits, water and 30-electric connections. Pets are allowed if leashed. Pit toilets and water spigots are available for use during the warm spring and summer months. Showers are on the grounds. The park has hiking trails, and bird watchers can try spotting the numerous songbirds that make their home in the region.
