Campgrounds in Steinhatchee, Florida
Steinhatchee is located in the "Big Bend" region of Florida on its northwestern coast. The city lines the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, and the Steinhatchee River flows through it. The majority of the area is left in its natural state, allowing for an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. Campers have several options when it comes to choosing a campsite in the area.

Steinhatchee Outpost Campground

Located directly on the Steinhatchee River, the Steinhatchee Outpost Campground offers guests 13 acres of woods in which to camp and explore. The campground has 70 sites with some accommodating RVs and offering 30/50-amp service, water, fire rings and a picnic table. There are pull-through sites as well. Some campsites are designated for tents and are situated away from RVs; these sites are wooded and private. The park has a bathhouse, convenience store, dump station and picnic area. Two bike/hiking trails are situated on the campground, and guests can rent canoes or kayaks and explore the Steinhatchee River. Boaters and anglers will appreciate the campground's boat ramp, launching directly onto the river. The Gulf of Mexico, offering more recreational opportunities, is located approximately six miles from the campground.

Russell's Campground

Russell's Campground offers guests a wooded area in which to camp that is approximately five blocks from the Steinhatchee River and one mile from the Gulf of Mexico. The park has 27 campsites offering 30/50-amp service, water, cable TV, fire ring and picnic table. Some sites are private to accommodate tents, and there are sites accommodating pull-throughs. The park has a bathhouse, picnic area, camper rentals and a game-cleaning station. The park is open year round. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy fishing and boating opportunities on the Steinhatchee River and Gulf of Mexico. Hikers and canoeists are approximately eight miles from the Steinhatchee Falls Recreation Area, where there is a canoe launch into the river. Two miles north of the park is a hiking trail that meanders along the Steinhatchee riverbanks.

Redfish RV Park

The Redfish RV Park is located within the city limits of Steinhatchee and offers campers a wooded area in which to camp. There are nine regular campsites offering 30-amp service, water, sewer, Internet, and picnic table. Fifteen campsites offer 30-amp service, water, sewer, TV cable, Internet and picnic table, and six deluxe sites offer 50-amp service, TV cable, water, Internet, sewer and picnic table. There is one site offering electricity and water only. The park has a dump station, storage area and bathhouse. The park is approximately one mile from public boat launches into the Gulf of Mexico, where fishing, boating and canoeing opportunities abound. The Steinhatchee River is approximately one mile from the park, offering more opportunities to canoe, fish, hike and view Florida's wildlife.
