Madison, Florida Campgrounds
This quiet town, located a short distance from both Tallahassee and Jacksonville, is surrounded by rolling farmlands, lakes, rivers and streams. Visit the 20-acre Ladell Brothers Outdoor Environmental Center on the campus of North Florida Community College to learn about native wildlife in the area. Birding is popular, along with biking. The Madison Country Loop is a 135-mile, up-and-down bike route through gently-sloping hills, meadows and pastures. Madison County is bordered by three rivers, the Aucilla River, the Withlacoochee and the Suwannee River--good venues for fishing, canoeing and kayaking. There's waterskiing, boating and swimming at nearby Cherry Lake.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

This family-friendly, bustling campground sits on 85 acres and has 160 campsites, including eight primitive sites, 34 sites with water and electric and 126 with full hookups. Both 30- and 50-amp electrical service is available. There are also cabin rentals. The lakeside property has a swimming beach, swimming pool, a 60-foot water slide, boat rentals, sports fields (including volleyball and basketball) and a miniature golf course. There's a game room, guest laundry, camp store and snack bar---complete with an ice cream counter. The resort hosts a variety of themed weekends and camp activities throughout the year, including arts and crafts, ice cream socials, dances, contests, potluck dinners and bonfires.

Frontier Territory Campground

This modest, family-owned and operated campground, located about a mile outside of the center of Madison, has 15 full hookups. RVs, with a maximum width of 25 feet, are welcome. There's also an open area that can accommodate tent campers. Sites have 20-, 30- and 50-amp service. There's a dump station, guest laundry, small camp store and a boat dock. Boat rentals are also available. Cherry Lake is about 15 miles away.

Deerwood Inn & Madison Campground

This combination motel and campground has 75 pull-through RV sites, with 30- or 50-amp electrical service. The property includes a large pool and several picnic areas with barbecue grills. There's also a covered gazebo and a group pavilion, with tables and grills, for campers to use. The Madison campground is close to nearby attractions. Cherry Lake, Suwannee River State Park and Madison Blue Springs State Park (know for its cave diving) are less than 20 miles away.
