Newaygo County, Michigan Campgrounds
Newaygo County, Michigan is comprised largely of Manistee National Forest which covers over half of the county. Visitors will find walleye fishing opportunities in the White River and backwaters of Hardy Dam along several hiking trails, including the North County National Scenic Trail, which traverses 4,600 miles in seven states. Lodging options include a variety of campgrounds, including some that are waterfront and others that have accessible hiking trails.

White Cloud Campground

White Cloud Campground is a city-owned campground located on the White River and within two blocks of the restaurants and shopping of downtown White Cloud. It offers 80 campsites on 89 acres; some of the sites are shaded and all include water and electric hookups. Facility amenities include several restroom buildings, an air-conditioned pavilion with kitchen and a large playground. Guests can also access the river for swimming, fishing and tubing. White Cloud campground is the starting point of hiking trail that leads to historic Flowing Well, which is located in another city park.

Pickeral Lakeside Campground

Pickeral Lakeside Campground is located in central Newaygo County and offers 27 lakefront sites on Pickeral Lake and 15 pull-through sites. Sites include water and electric hookup as well a picnic table and fire ring. Facility amenities include restrooms, dump station and fish cleaning station. Recreational activities include a boat launch, buoyed swimming area and horseshoes along with a basketball and volleyball court. Guests have access to hiking trails that run through the surrounding forests. Pickeral Lake is a relatively small lake with low fishing pressure, which provides guests with access to good fishing for panfish and large-mouth bass.

Sportsman Park Campground

Sportsman Park Campground is located northeast of White Cloud, Michigan on the backwater of Hardy Dam. They offer full hookup sites as well as rustic sites on a semi-wooded waterfront landscape. Sites include a level grass pad, picnic table and fire ring along with several restroom building that include showers. Facility amenities include a common area for gathering that includes a kitchen, playground and volleyball court. There is a boat launch on-site for guests to use as well as dock available for rent. The backwaters of Hardy Dam, on which the campground is located, offers fishing for bass and panfish. Guests are also just a short drive away from many hiking trails in the surrounding Manistee National Forest.
