Both the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins are headquartered here. Spring through winter is a good time to visit Fort Myers for the saltwater fishing in the Gulf of Mexico or freshwater fishing in the nearby rivers and lakes.

Shady Acres RV Park

Shady Acres RV Park is home to 250 full hookup sites with 30/50 amp electric, room for slideouts and two pull-through spaces. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry, library, snack bar and an enclosed dog run. The swimming pool is heated and the site of parties throughout the winter season. Shady's Café is open five days a week during the winter to appeal to the snowbirds. The recreation hall houses a pool table, computer station and TV lounge and also hosts bingo, dances and dinners. Recreation includes horseshoes, shuffleboard and a new giant outdoor chess set. Shady Acres is just a few minutes away from the Coconut Sea Kayak Tour on the Estero River. This is a Class I river trip that takes you 5.5 miles.

Woodsmoke Camping Resort

Woodsmoke Camping Resort has been a Fort Myers RV mainstay since 1968. The 300 campsites here are now located on 13 acres and offers 30/50 amp electric, 15 pull-throughs and room for slideouts. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry, library and church with services every Sunday. Woodsmoke offers nature trails, a heated pool and spa, fitness center, shuffleboard and horseshoes. Pack plenty of fishing gear because Woodsmoke has two different lakes in which to drop your line. Bring your dog and take advantage of the walking area for pets. A few miles to the north is the chance to see bald eagles and snowy egrets along the 1.2 mile Cypress Slough Preserve hike.

Upriver RV Resort

Upriver RV Resort has 200 full hookup spaces with 30/50 amp electricity, 59 pull-through sites and room for slideouts and big rigs. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry, library, church and self-serve RV wash. When you arrive you will be personally escorted to your site over paved interior roads. This Fort Myers RV resort is activity-crazy. You may get there for wine tasting one night and take part in a chili cook-off the next and dress up for swing dancing the next. Recreation includes swimming in the heated pool or relaxing in the spa. You can toss horseshoes or push the shuffleboard. The Caloosahatchee River provides plenty of chances for reeling in fish or you can unhook your watercraft and take advantage of the onsite boat ramp. Upriver even hosts its own 9-hole golf course.
