Campgrounds in Gulf Shores, AL
Gulf Shores, Alabama is a stretch of white-sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. There are white, sugar-sand beaches that offer surfing, sea kayaking, bird-watching, snorkeling and scuba diving, fishing, and swimming. Visitors on the Gulf Shores can spot dolphins and the occasional manatee from the shores and beaches. There are several options for campgrounds and RV parks in the Gulf Shores area.

Gulf State Park

Visitors to the Gulf Shore can opt to camp at the Alabama Gulf State Park. The park consists of 6,150 acres and has two miles of sugar-sand beaches. Guests can camp at primitive tent or RV sites, or choose an RV site with partial hookups (water and 50-amp electric). There are showers and bathrooms, a guest gazebo, barbecue stations, and picnic areas. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed in the park. For water lovers, there is sea-kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing. There are geocache sites, and hiking trails in the park.

Island Retreat RV Park

Island Retreat RV Park offers sites for many types of camper. Tent campers are allowed and will be camping on the same sites as RVs. RV hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. There are bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a guest room, fishing, and beach access. Pets are allowed if leashed, and there is a dog play area for off-leash romping. Surfers can take advantage of early morning waves at the nearby breaks, and sea-kayakers can drop in at the beaches for miles of coastal paddling.

Southport Campgrounds

The Southport Campgrounds have sites for RVs with full or partial hookups. Tent campers should call management prior to arrival to check on site availability. Hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and cable TV. Guests may use the showers, bathrooms, guest room, recreation room, laundry facility, and picnic areas. Pets are allowed as well. There are several beaches within five miles of the campgrounds where visitors can fish, sea-kayak, snorkel and scuba dive. The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is within an hour's drive and visitors to the refuge can try spotting over 370 species of bird, fox, coyotes, armadillos, sea turtles, manatees and dolphin.
