Markin Glen Park
Markin Glen Park can be found eight miles north of Portage. Thirty-eight camping sites are offered with seven of these designated for pull-through RVs. Two are accessible for the disabled. Hook-ups include 50-amp electric, water and sewer. Each site has a fire ring, cement pad and picnic table. The park has bathrooms, showers and a dump station. Pets are welcome. Markin Glen Park has two ponds for fishing, a beach area for swimmers, ball fields and 160 acres of trails for hikers and bikers.

American Campgrounds
American Campgrounds is located 14 miles north of Portage. Campers choose between 177 sites with big rig RV access. There are no pull-through sites. Camping hook-ups include 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric, water and sewer. The campground has a pool, camp store, bathrooms, propane, a playground, a dump station, an activity center, basketball court and mini-golf. Pets are welcome at the facility. The grounds include a pond and lake for those who like to fish as well as the Kal Haven Trail for hikers.

Fort Custer Recreation Area
Fort Custer Recreation Area sits 15 miles east of Portage. Visitors will find 219 camping sites designed with smaller RVs in mind. No pull-through sites are available and class-A RVs will find space extremely limited. A 30-amp electric hook-up is available. Campers are responsible for their own sewage and water tanks can be filled in the campground though not on each individual site. The campground has a dump station, bathrooms and showers. Outdoor lovers will find this park a worthy option as it has trails for hikers, walker and mountain bikers, a nature exploring program, swimming, equestrian trails. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails and dog-sledding.
