Campgrounds Near Lake Conroe, Texas
Lake Conroe, Texas, is a tributary of the West Arm of the San Jacinto River in the eastern portion of the state. Fishing on the lake is a popular pastime for locals and visitors alike. Large-mouth bass, bluegill and crappie are in the lake. There are canoeing and kayak-touring to be had on the lake, and bird-watchers can look for migratory species that pass through the area. The nearby Sam Houston National Forest has more than 140 miles of hiking trails.

Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA

The Lake Conroe/North Houston KOA offers sites for tent campers and RVs. Tent sites are primitive but have fresh water access for drinking and cooking. RV sites have 30- or 50-amp electric, sewer, water and Wi-Fi availability. Pets are allowed if leashed. AAA and Good Sam club discounts are available for members. Guests may use the showers and bathrooms. For guest convenience, there is a laundry room on the premises. For those looking for salt-water adventures, Galveston Island is within three hour's drive and has surfing, snorkeling, sea-kayaking and scuba diving.

Cagle, Double Lake and Stubblefield Recreation Areas - Sam Houston National Forest

Visitors to the Lake Conroe region can opt to camp at one of three campgrounds offered at the Sam Houston National Forest. Campsites are available for tent campers and RVs. Tent sites have fire-rings, picnic tables, are level, and have access to fresh water spigots for drinking and cooking. RV sites are either primitive or have partial hookups of water and 50-amp electric. All guests can use the bathrooms and showers. Within the forest, guests can find the Lone Star Hiking Trail. Pets are allowed but must be leashed in the national forest.

Lochness Marina RV Park

The Lochness Marina and RV Park offers sites for tents campers and RVs. Tent sites are level and have full park access. RV sites have 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. All guests can use the boat launches, fishing sites, showers, bathrooms, laundry room and guest house. Pets are allowed if leashed. No open campfires are allowed. Guests can find fishing on the lake from camp sites and hiking in the nearby Sam Houston National Forest.
