Big Meadow Family Campground is actually located in Tennessee, but Fontana Village is directly on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee--it's right next door. This family-run campground caters to all travelers and offers a warm, family-feel that is often missed at commercially-run RV parks and campgrounds. Amenities include more than 100 sites for tenters and RVers (including pull-through sites), full hook-ups for RVs, game rooms, laundry services, and a towing service. You can easily access the Appalachian Trail or other nearby hiking trails to experience true Appalachia.

Mountaineer Campground

Located just across the border in Townsend, Mountaineer Campground is a full-service site dedicated to serving both the hiking and traveling community in the South. Amenities include: tent sites, RV sites with hook-ups for electric, gas, water, and sewer, and cabin rentals for those interested in four walls. Just a short distance away is the Great Smokey Mountain National Park, the most visited National Park in the country. The park is open year-round and the Appalachian Trail runs right through it.

Misty River Cabins and RV Resort

Misty River Cabins and RV Resort was named Tennessee Campground of the year in 2009 by the Tennessee Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. This site, also located just across the border from Fontana Village, has sites for all campers--RV sites with hook-ups, tent pads, and cabins available for rent. The site is also located near Smokey Mountain National Park and and the Appalachian Trail, both of which are accessed easily on foot.
