Campgrounds in Isabella County, Michigan
The lovely, wooded lake country of Isabella County, Michigan has many campgrounds and recreation areas to choose from. Popular activities include hiking, swimming and fishing. Campgrounds in the county, which is in central lower Michigan, require a minimum two-night stay and you must be at least 18 to reserve a site.

Coldwater Lake Family Park

Coldwater Lake Family Park, which is near Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, features 95 modern campsites, eight pull-through sites and five cabin rentals. There are water hook-ups at every site and a modern handicapped-accessible bath house. The campground also offers two pavilions, a sandy swimming beach, a boat launch, fishing, a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit and a playground with an Old West theme.

Herrick Recreation Area

Herrick Recreation Area, 113 beautiful acres near the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail, offers 73 modern campsites and five rustic cabins. Each campsite has water and a 20/30 amp electric hook-up. There is also a modern handicapped-accessible bathhouse. Monthly rates are available. The campground features two covered pavilions, a swimming area and a playground with a railroad theme. A boat launch for electric motors only provides access to three ponds. For land-based fun, try out the volleyball court or the horseshoe pit. The Pere Marquette Rail-Trail is available for hiking, biking, in-line skating or cross country skiing.

Deerfield Nature Park

For those who prefer a more remote campsite and do not own an RV, there is 591-acre Deerfield Nature Park on the banks of the Chippewa River. The nature park has 10 campsites accessible only by a one-mile hike or canoe. The park is open all year and features a hand water pump, four covered pavilions, picnic areas, a covered bridge and two swing bridges. There is also an 18-hole disc golf course. In the winter, campers can enjoy groomed cross-country ski trails, a sledding hill and 8 miles of snowshoe trails. There is a sandy beach for swimming, a boat launch, fishing on the Chippewa River and volleyball and horseshoes. Discounted fees are available for county residents and students.
