RV Parks in the Birmingham Area
When you visit one of the RV parks around Birmingham,Alabama, you actually are just a half hour or so away from the Statue of Liberty. A 36-foot tall replica looks down over the city. Another statue in Birmingham is more famous: the statue of Vulcan. A trip to the area really does call for taking in these two iconic statues as well as seeking out the plentiful outdoor recreation in the greater Birmingham area.

Cherokee Campground

About a half hour south of Birmingham you'll find Cherokee Campground in Helena, Alabama. The sites here are full hookup with 30- and 50-amp electrical connections. Cherokee is home to a 16-acre lake that is perfect for fishing, but no boating or swimming is allowed for insurance reasons. Facilities include bathrooms, showers and a 24-hour laundry. Helena is also home to the 1.5 mile Cahaba Lily Park Nature Trail. This park also contains a playground and picnic area.

Rolling Hills RV and Conference Center

Calera is about 30 miles outside Birmingham and offers 61 spaces with full hookup including 30- and 50-amp electric. There are six pull-through sites at this Birmingham-area RV park, and the camp has room for slideouts. The paved interior roads are in need of maintenance at this camp. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry and RV storage. On-site recreation includes nature trails, swimming pool and Rolling Hills Lake where you can swim as well as drop a line for freshwater fish. A half hour away, the Little Cahaba River has a 6.4 mile kayaking route perfect for beginner and intermediate level enthusiasts.

Hoover RV Park

Staying at Hoover RV Park puts you only 15 minutes away from Birmingham and right across the street from Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. You have your choice from 142 full hookup sites offering 30- and 50-amp electricity. All 142 sites are pull-through, and there is room for a slideout if you need it. This Birmingham-area RV campground is low on the recreation side itself, but close to the Aldridge Gardens Trail, which is nearly a mile long and takes you for a leisurely loop around a lake. A little further south is the 1.2 mile long Moss Rock Preserve Trail, which also provides an opportunity to sharpen your rock-climbing skills.

Birmingham South Campground

Birmingham South Campground is located in the community of Pelham, Alabama. You've got a choice of 50 full hookup space with 30/50 amp electricity, room for slideouts and easily accessed pull-through capacity. Facilities include bathrooms, showers, laundry, library and a store for groceries and RV supplies. Bring your dog because this Birmingham RV resort features an enclosed dog run. Recreation on the site includes a heated swimming pool, horseshoes and playground. Not far from Birmingham South Campground is the 10 mile long Oak Mountain Loop trail that can test the limits of even very experience hikers.
