RV Campsites in Cortez, Colorado
Cortez is a small city in the southwestern corner of Colorado, in the Four Corners region, that is best known as the gateway to Mesa Verde National Park. Mesa Verde has over 600 cliff dwellings and thousands of archaeological sites. Though most are off-limits to tourists, ranger-guided tours are available to Cliff Palace, Balcony House and Long House. Less than an hour east of Cortez on the edge of the San Juan National Forest is Durango, which serves as the gateway to Purgatory ski area, as well as kayaking on the Animas River and hikes and climbs in an area featuring many peaks. Those visiting Mesa Verde will find several RV parks in Cortez.

Cortez Mesa Verde KOA

Cortez Mesa Verde KOA is located on the eastern side of Cortez, right next to Denny Lake. The facility has 120 RV sites, some with pull-through access for rigs up to 80 feet in length. Full hookups with 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV are available. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the grounds, and the camp offers showers, bathrooms and laundry services. The on-site swimming pool and hot tub are open from May 29 to September 5. Other recreational opportunities include a basketball court and playground. A grocery store on the premises sells basic supplies, including firewood. Pets are welcome at the KOA, which is open April 1 to October 15.

La Mesa RV Park

La Mesa RV Park has 38 mostly shaded back-in sites and can handle rigs up to 52 feet in length. La Mesa is in the Passport America program, so you can get 50 percent discounts on normal rates. Full hookups with 30-amp electric, water and sewer are provided. Free Wi-Fi is available at the facility, and guests have access to showers, laundry and bathrooms. Pets are welcome. La Mesa is open year-round.

Sundance RV Park

Sundance RV Park has 68 mostly shaded sites with picnic tables and long pull-through access for big rigs. Full hookups with 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV are provided, and free Wi-Fi is available on the grounds. Modem hookups are also available. The park offers showers, laundry facilities and bathrooms to on-site guests. Pets are allowed, and Sundance has its own dog walk area. The facility is 500 yards from a public RV dump site and across the street from City Park and the municipal pool. On the premises, Sundance also has an RV repair shop that sells parts and accessories.
