Campgrounds Near Copper Harbor, Michigan
Copper Harbor is located at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula and is the northernmost city in Michigan. The town is located on a large bay of Lake Superior and offers many unique shopping and dining opportunities. Campers will find several campgrounds in the area that are within a few minutes' drive of Lake Superior, in-land fishing lakes and forest hiking trails.

Fort Wilkins State Park

Fort Wilkins State Park is a 700-acre campground on the eastern edge of Copper Harbor. It offers 159 campsites that include electric, a picnic table and fire ring. Facility amenities include modern restrooms, concession store and playground as well as a picnic shelter. The park borders Lake Superior, Lake Fanny Hooe and Lake Manganese, which all offer visitors many fishing opportunities. A boat launch is available on Lake Fanny Hooe. The park also has a four-mile hiking trail that runs through the forest and along the lakeshore. Fort Wilkins is a restored military post from 1844 and has seasonal actors who portray the lifestyle of the time; it is free for guests to tour.

Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground

Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground is located just a block from downtown Copper Harbor and has a 64-site campground. Sites include water, electric and a picnic table. Full-service sites also have cable TV and sewer hookup. Facility amenities include modern restrooms, private showers, a dump station, a camp store and a gift shop. There is a large beachfront less than 500 feet from the campground where guests can swim and sunbathe. Lake Fanny Hooe Resort has boats available for rent to campers who want to enjoy the quality fishing in the lake. A small trout creek also runs through the campground where guests can fish.

Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground

Sunset Bay RV Resort & Campground is located 29 miles southwest of Copper Harbor in Ahmeek, Michigan. It is located directly on Lake Superior and has 18 RV sites and three tent sites. All sites include electric, water and a picnic table as well as a fire pit. Facility amenities include a bath house, restroom and laundry room along with a dump station. There is a beach area for guests to swim, sunbathe or walk and explore. Guests will also find several miles of hiking trails that are accessible from the campground.
