And whether you prefer a mountain hike or quiet contemplation in the desert, there are natural areas within a short commute of each.

Rancho Sonora

Rancho Sonora offers RV camping in a desert setting. The sites come with concrete patios, picnic tables and phone service, and big rigs can be accommodated. The park offers scheduled events and entertainment. The clubhouse has a craft area, kitchen and laundry. Guests can use the heated pool and spa, the outdoor fireplace and barbecue or share the warm glow around the main fire pit. For adventures in nature, Usery Mountain Regional Park is 25 miles north. The park has a variety of trail types for hiking and mountain biking and the park contains a five-star-rated archery range.

Desert Gardens RV Park

Desert Gardens RV Park serves travelers and RV owners age 55 and up. The sites include gravel roads, full hookups and Wi-Fi service. The park provides both fire pits and patio tables, and the grounds contain plenty to do. Guests may use the heated pool and spa, work out in the fitness center or walk in the meditation garden. The game room is stocked with game tables and table games, plus a big-screen television. A craft studio and shop hold stained glass and woodworking tools. The RV park is 14 miles from Casa Grande National Monument, where self-guided tours and paths lead through the ruins.

Indian Skies RV Resort

Indian Skies RV Resort is a gated community offering paved streets and concrete pads that can accommodate even big rigs. Guests receive cable and phone connections and Wi-Fi access. The resort provides organized activities, arts and crafts and social gatherings. The grounds include a pet area and a clubhouse with a library lounge. Travelers have a choice of many sports and activities. Swim in the heated pool, relax in the spa or try out the fitness center. The community areas have table games and outdoor games. The resort is 11 miles southwest of Florence, and Picacho Peak State Park is 20 miles south of the resort. A new visitor center opened at the state park in 2009, and the park offers day hiking trails or a longer climb to Picacho Peak.
