Emerald Isle is located on a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina. These islands are known as the Outer Banks and are typically less crowded than beaches like Myrtle Beach. With this seclusion comes a slow pace, less commercialization and unspoiled beaches that are perfect for family vacations. When vacationing in the Emerald Isle area, you will be close to slightly larger towns such as Morehead City with plenty of shopping and restaurants. You are also only a short drive from the Croatan National Forest, Camp Lejeune Marine base and Cape Lookout, where you can see one the more popular North Carolina lighthouses. RV parks and campgrounds are scattered around the area to ensure that you stay near the fun.

Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort, situated on the beach in Emerald Isle, is rated a five-star camp resort by "Woodall's Campground Directory." Activities at the resort include swimming in the ocean or outdoor pool, body surfing and fishing, as well as a go cart speedway, playground and rec room. Other features of the park include bathhouses, restrooms, snack shop, camp store and laundry facilities. Sites include water and electrical up to 50 amps, and most sites have sewer connections. RVs, campers and tents are welcome.

Goose Creek Resort

Goose Creek Resort is located about 12 miles to the northwest of Emerald Isle on the mainland. On the waters of the Intercoastal Waterway, the resort offers access to fishing as well as boating and skiing. The beaches are easily accessed by bridge. Other activities provide by the campground include swimming in the outdoor pool complete with water slide, volleyball, horseshoes, playground and game room. There are many amenities to make your stay more convenient, such as a snack shop, camp store, laundry facilities, a dump station and bathhouses. Sites are offered for both RVs and tents. Tent sites come with power and water.

Camp Ocean Forest Campground

Camp Ocean Forest Campground, in Emerald Isle, is located on the water. On-site amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a dump station. All sites come with picnic tables, water and electricity. Sewage connections are available at RV sites. Tent camping is welcomed at a slightly reduced price. Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a leash at all times. Activities can be found at the water's edge--fishing, swimming, sunbathing or walking the coastline. Several restaurants are a short walk away, and there are a few marinas where you can find a charter boat service.
