RV Parks in Hillsborough County, Florida

Located on the west coast of Florida, Hillsborough County is the county seat for the city of Tampa. It encompasses a total of 888 square miles and is home to Egmont Key State Park, Hillsborough River State Park and Alafia River State Park. The county boasts all of Tampa's major attractions including the city's downtown district, Busch Gardens, Ybor City, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning and the annual Gasparilla Festival. Recreational activities are abundant throughout the county as the mild climate is conducive to year-round activities including hiking, biking, boating, fishing, jogging, golfing, among others. There are several RV parks in the area from which to choose for your visit.

Hillsborough River State Park

Located 9 miles north of Tampa in northeastern Hillsborough County, Hillsborough River State Park was one of Florida's first state parks. The Hillsborough River flows through the park and provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, biking and hiking on over 7 miles of nature trials. There are more than 75 sites with full RV hookups that include restrooms, a swimming pool and a dump station. Canoe and bike rentals are available, and tent camping also is permitted. Reservations are recommended.

Bay Bayou RV Resort

Located on Memorial Highway in northwestern Hillsborough County, Bay Bayou RV Resort has 272 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. It features cable TV, Wi-Fi and DSL Internet at each site, restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, a large swimming pool and Jacuzzi and a large clubhouse with fitness center. Nestled along the shores of Double Branch Creek, the Resort has a dock for fishing and kayaking. Visitors can enjoy nearby Brooker Creek Preserve, an 8,500-acre wilderness area with hiking trails, wildlife viewing and bird-watching opportunities.

Lazydays RV Campground

Lazydays RV Campground is located in eastern Hillsborough County off Interstate 4. It boasts 300 sites with 50-amp full hookups and features free breakfast and lunch with each RV site, has free Wi-Fi, cable TV, newspaper delivery, laundry facilities, a pool and Jacuzzi, tennis and pickleball courts and is pet friendly. There is also a Camping World, Flying J and Cracker Barrel on the grounds. The campground is located within a few miles of Hillsborough River State Park and the Florida State Fairgrounds.

Spanish Main RV Park

Spanish Main RV Park is a Carefree RV Resort located approximately 10 miles from Tampa. It has 275 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups and features three bathhouses with showers, two laundromats, Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, clubhouse, recreation hall, shuffleboard courts, fishing ponds and is pet friendly. The resort is located within a short drive to Lake Thonotosassa, a 819-acre lake that features a boat ramp and is popular for bass fishing and boating.
