Located 40 miles southwest of Chicago situated along the banks of the Des Plaines River, Joliet is one of Illinois fastest growing cities. It is home to two casinos, the Chicagoland Speedway, an NHRA drag strip, a minor league baseball team, and boasts several local golf courses, a water park, and miles of hiking and biking trails. Whether traveling to Joilet to enjoy the cultural or recreation activities or just traveling through, there are a number of RV parks from which to choose.

Empress Casino and Hotel

Located just south of downtown Joliet, Empress Casino and Hotel is a 50,000-square-foot casino that has more than 1,100 slot and video poker machines, table games and penny slots. The RV Resort is located adjacent to the hotel and has 80 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. Open seasonally, it features landscaped sites, restrooms with showers and laundry facilities. There are limited access sites during the winter season. Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is located just south and is the largest publicly owned open space in northeastern Illinois. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.

Chicagoland Speedway--Lakeside Campground

Located on the Chicagoland Speedway grounds, the Lakeside Campground has more than 100 sites with 30-amp hookups. During races, potable water and sewer is available for an additional fee, portable toilets are available, and a shower truck is brought around daily. Visitors typically stay at this campground during Chicagoland Speedway events and attend NASCAR or IndyCar weekend events.

Leisure Lake Membership Resort

Leisure Lake Membership Resort is a resort owned and operated by resort members but has guest spaces for RVers traveling through. There are more than 200 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. The resort features restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi Internet and a convenience store. Fishing the 24-acre stocked fishing lake, swimming in the pool or the 2-acre sand bottom lake, and hiking the on-site trail are popular activities for visitors.
