The city of Schenectady, which means "over the pines" in Mohawk, is located 18 miles northwest of Albany, New York. The historic Stockade district within Schenectady was settled by the Dutch in 1661 and remains the oldest residential neighborhood in America. It is here where you can find a charming village that is dedicated to the preservation of 40 houses that are more than 200 years old. There are many parks and nature reserves in Schenectady, including Vale Park and Central Park. Go hiking on the nature trails and along Cohorn Creek. Revisit the grounds where the Mohawk Indians lived. Go for a bike on The Mohawk Hudson Bikeway. Afterward, explore the profound Stockade district and enjoy a hearty meal at one of its pleasant restaurants.

if you are looking for a more eclectic ambiance and more vegetarian choices, Moon & River Cafe is ideal. This casual coffee house serves healthy dishes from around the world at an affordable price.
