The River Cafe
The River Cafe, which opened in 1977, was the first restaurant on Brooklyn's East River waterfront. In fact, this pioneering restaurant spurred the entire harbor development. The River Cafe is consistently voted one of the "Most Romantic Restaurant in America," most recently by MSNBC.com. The views of the river and the Brooklyn Bridge are stunning and the kitchen has trained some of America's finest chefs, including Charlie Palmer and David Burke. Menu highlights include organic chicken breast with Madeira sauce, Hudson Valley fois gras, New York strip steak and, for dessert, the chocolate marquise Brooklyn Bridge. The River Cafe is open for lunch Monday through Saturday, Sunday brunch and dinner nightly.
