Penfield, New York, was formerly the hunting grounds of the Native American Seneca tribe. A suburb of Rochester, the town has many hiking and fitness trails. Veteran's Memorial Park Nature and Fitness Trail is great for the novice hiker. In the winter, the trail is open for cross-country skiing. Those who enjoy canoeing and kayaking may wish to check out the Irondeqoit Creek Waterway, a two-mile water trail through a creek and cattail marshes. Penfield is home to one Mexican restaurant, however, other choices are available only a short distance away.

Los Amigos Restaurant & Bar serves patrons five days a week, being closed on Sunday and Monday. The restaurant prides itself on only using the finest meats and vegetables available. Moe's is located five miles from Penfield, in Rochester. As you walk in, you're greeted by the staff who shout "Welcome to Moe's!" Choose your items from the menu on the wall, place your order and watch as it is made right in front of you. Bestowed with quirky titles such as Joey Bag of Donuts--a burrito with meat, beans, rice and cheese, and The Funk Meister-- a taco with meat, beans, cheese and lettuce, Mexican food lovers are sure to find a choice to satisfy their craving. Vegetarians should appreciate the fact that tofu is an option to replace any meat in their entrees.

If you're in the area on a Saturday morning in summer and early fall, consider starting your day with a Mexican-style breakfast. Once a resident of Mexico City, the executive chef of Blue Cactus emphasizes fresh ingredients and dishes made from scratch. The braver members of your dining party may wish to try the salsa xnipec y totopos appetizer, made with habanero.
