Bus Trips From Ottawa to South Carolina
There are no direct bus trips for the 1,100 mile span between Ottowa, Canada, and South Carolina in the United States. There is however, a reliable way to get there by using the Greyhound bus system, making a stop in Montreal and a stop in New York City. If there is a rush to arrive in South Carolina, the route can be taken without any days in between the two cities, but taking some time is a great way to enrich the journey.

Ottowa to Montreal

The bus ride from Ottowa to Montreal is only two and a half hours. By taking the morning bus, it is possible to explore a small portion of the city of Montreal. The city's Greyhound station is steps away from the University of Quebec and the school's metro stop. The Montreal metro system serves well to connect rapidly to any neighborhood in the city. Sites of interest while exploring these neighborhoods are: the historic district of Old Montreal, Chinatown and Montreal's Latin quarter.

Montreal to New York City

Montreal to New York City is a much longer bus ride totaling seven a half hours. It is a good idea to take the night bus, in order to get into the city by the morning. Depending on your citizenship, it is also important to know what documentation will be required to enter the United States, before purchasing any tickets. An entire day to wander about New York City is an exciting point along the journey to the south. The city is easily navigated by foot, bus, metro system or by the famous yellow taxis. Some of the most enticing attractions include Times Square, the Central Park Zoo and the view from the Empire State building. There are also high quality evening shows featuring symphonies, theater and ballet. The Greyhound station is conveniently located on Eighth avenue in Manhattan Island.

New York City to Columbia, South Carolina

Including a three-hour layover in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the bus ride from New York City to Columbia, South Carolina totals 20 hours. The ride crosses the northern tip of both New Jersey and Delaware and goes on to cross the states of Maryland, Washington D. C., Virginia, North Carolina and a portion of South Carolina to it's final destination.
