Campgrounds in Arizona Near Glendale
Glendale, Arizona, is approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. This scenic desert town is known as the site of the new University of Phoenix Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals. Glendale's warm and dry climate attracts travelers in search of outdoor leisure. Numerous parks and campgrounds are in and around Glendale. Visitors will find several decent options in terms of places to camp.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park

Lake Pleasant Regional Park is a 30-minute drive to the north of Glendale. Lake Pleasant is the biggest lake in the greater Phoenix area with over 50 miles of shoreline. Travelers in search of water activities will enjoy this destination. There are two campgrounds here. The Desert Tortoise Campground has 25 full hook-up RV sites, 21 basic RV sites and 10 tent sites. The Roadrunner Campground and picnic area offers 72 fully equipped sites for RV and tent camping, including electric, water and sanitary hookups. All sites also include a picnic table, fire ring, grill and ramada shelter. You may also be able to arrange for primitive camping along the shore depending on water levels at the lake. This is a beautiful area, ideal for camping alone or in groups.

Covered Wagon RV Park

Covered Wagon RV Park is a simple RV facility located 15 minutes east of the Glendale city center. This small RV park has full hookup sites and features grassy lots with concrete patios. Other perks include free wireless Internet, a communal swimming pool, public bathrooms and a small laundry facility. Covered Wagon RV Park is pet-friendly.

Estrella Mountain Regional Park

Estrella Mountain Regional Park is another scenic area 30 minutes south of Glendale. The park includes wetlands, desert and mountains. Estrella Mountain Regional Park has seven RV camping sites. These are full hookup sites with water and electricity as well as fire rings and picnic tables. Ramada shelters are available for camping groups staying next to each other. Camping groups can also arrange to camp in tents in certain areas of the park. There are public restrooms but no shower facilities. This is a rustic park with plenty of hiking trails and natural scenery, ideal for those who want a more rugged camping experience.
