Augusta, Georgia Campgrounds

Augusta, Georgia Campgrounds
Augusta, Georgia, is more than a green jacket and the Masters tournament. While it is renowned for its golfing history, Augusta is also nearby some beautiful sights for outdoor adventure seekers--whether it be the Savannah River or the rolling majesty of the former plantations, getting away from the city limits and finding camping in the Deep South is easier than ever. Here are just a few of the many camping and RV spots near Augusta.

Flynn's Inn Camping Village

Located next to Hamilton Branch State Park and the Savannah River, this local favorite offers all that any individual, couple or family could want. From whitewater rafting, to kayaking, to golfing at the Midland Valley Golf Club, to swimming and fishing, Flynn's Inn proximity to such attractions makes this spot very popular. Locals warn that the spring season gets heavy rainfall and makes for moist camping--both in RVs and especially near the tent pads. While the temperatures in the summers can reach into the 90s, the warm breezes off the lakes and rivers help to temper the heat. Make sure to book early as both the RV sites and tenting areas fill up fast.
