Restaurants in Bronx, New York
The Bronx is a borough in New York City just north of Manhattan. Though The Bronx is home to the Bronx Zoo, Yankee Stadium and The New York Botanical Gardens, few know that it's also home to some amazing restaurants that are far more authentic and inexpensive than restaurants found in Manhattan. From bustling Fordham Road to the seaside quaintness of City Island, The Bronx has a lot to offer in terms of culture and delicious food.

Dominick's Restaurant

Dominick's is located on Artuhr Avenue, a thriving Italian community that looks like it's been frozen in time since the 1950's. Grandmas sit out on the sidewalk, and kids play stickball in the streets. Dominick's has no menu - the regulars who come here know what they want and get exactly what they ask for - a veal chop stuffed with cheese, pasta with fresh clams, chicken parmigiana with linguine. The Italian food served at Dominick's is authentic Italian, much as if you went to someone's home. Ask the waiter for your fantasy Italian meal and watch it come to life right before your eyes. Dominick's is closed Tuesday and open the rest of the week for lunch and dinner. Reservations and credit cards are not accepted.

Liebman's Delicatessen

Liebman's is a traditional kosher New York delicatessen. Unlike the delis in Midtown Manhattan that cater to the tourism trade and are like the Disney World of delis, Liebman's is worth the trip for authentic knishes, pastrami and matzo ball soup. Some of the house specialities include stuffed cabbage, Hungarian goulash and briskett served traditionally with a potato latke and apple sauce. Dine at the restaurant, which serves sour pickles at the table or take out. Liebman's also can cater any party and offers packages ranging from a simple cold cut platter to a full dining menu for hundreds of people.

Lobster Box

Lobster Box has been perched on the waterfront overlooking Long Island Sound since 1946. This City Island eatery offers fresh seafood, including Alaskan King Crab, shrimp and, of course, lobster. The menu offers a full raw bar selection for starters, as well as a hot appetizer combo for two that includes fried shrimp, calamari and clams oreganato. Order the lobster or try a non-seafood option like skirt steak or chicken parmigiana. The Lobster Box has a children's menu and is open daily for lunch and dinner.
