The northern mountain region in the town of Fabius, New York is nicknamed "Toggenburg," and plays host to several ski resorts. Toggenburg is approximately 50 miles south of the Finger Lakes region, 80 miles south of the Adirondack mountains and approximately 20 miles south of Syracuse. Although Toggenburg does host ski resorts, it does not host any hotels. Adjacent towns that offer accommodations include Tully and Fayetteville. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of skiing, cross-country skiing, camping and hiking in the Toggenburg region, in addition to public lands such as Heiberg Memorial Forest, Morgan Hill State Forest, and Highland Forest Park.
