Situated in the heart of the Rio Grand Valley and named for Donna Hooks, daughter of T.J. Hooks a local land developer in the early 1900s, Donna is located 14 miles northeast of McAllen in Southeastern Hidalgo County. The town was established as a station on the St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railroad and today it is a popular tourist destination, especially during winter months for vacationers and retirees. With the Rio Grande River just seven miles south of the city, swimming, boating, fishing, golfing and bird-watching provide an abundance of recreational opportunities. Whether traveling to Donna to experience the local cultural and recreational opportunities or just traveling through, there are a number of RV campgrounds from which to choose.

Victoria Palms RV Resort is located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley and has a hotel, and over 800 sites with park model homes or for RVers traveling through. Sites have 30- or 50-amp full hookups and the Resort features restrooms with showers, a health club, a swimming pool, two spas, 18-hole golf course, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi Internet, on-site restaurant, cable TV, tennis courts and it allows pets. Visitors can enjoy the nearby Estero Llano Grande State Park, the 176-acre refuge at the geographic center of the Rio Grande Valley that offers hiking and biking trails and boardwalks for wildlife and bird-watching.

Palm Shadows RV Park

Located in Northeast Donna, Palm Shadows RV Park has over 460 sites, 150 of which are for RVers traveling through. Sites have 30- or 50-amp full hookups and the park features restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, cable TV, Wi-Fi Internet, an outdoor swimming pool, shuffleboard courts, a large recreation hall and the site allows pets. The Park is just a short drive to the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge situated along the banks of the lower Rio Grande River. The Refuge is 2,088 acres and was established for the protection of migratory birds. It's home to nearly 400 different types of birds and other wildlife including the indigo snake, malachite butterfly and the endangered ocelot. Visitors can enjoy over 12 miles of hiking trails, bicycling, wildlife and bird-watching opportunities.

Bit-O-Heaven RV Mobile Home Park

Located between Alamo and Donna, Bit-O-Heaven RV Mobile Home Park has easy access to Business Highway 83. There are over 800 sites for park model homes and RVers traveling through with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. It features restrooms with showers, two laundromats, cable TV, free Wi-Fi Internet, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, three spas, two recreation halls, shuffleboard courts, a game room and the park allows pets. The Park is located within just a short drive to the Baird Unit of the Los Palomas Wildlife Management Area that boasts hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities.
