Demopolis, Alabama is a small west-central Alabama town that has a lot to offer to RV campers looking for outdoor adventure. The town is adjacent to the Demopolis State Wildlife Area and is riddled with rivers, creeks and lakes. There is plenty of nature watching, canoeing and fishing around Demopolis, and since the town sits at the intersection of U.S. 43 and U.S. 80, the reaching the area's RV parks is an easy drive even in a big RV.

Foscue Creek Campground

Foscue Creek Campground is a state facility sitting on a tributary of Demopolis Lake. There are 54 sites organized into four loops. 49 sites of have full hookups, while the remaining five have only water and electrical. However, all 54 sites can handle up to 50 amp electricity. The campground facilities include a coin laundry, comfort station, dump station and playground. It is a popular local fishing area and water skiing is permitted, plus there is a boat ramp on the premises. The campground is also pet-friendly, but leashes are required. Two-night stays are required on the weekends and three-night stays are required on holidays.

Chickasaw State Park

Located 10 miles south of Demopolis, the 520-acre Chickasaw State Park has a small camping area with only three sites. Each site has water and electrical hookups. Other facilities at the park are limited. There is a barbecue pavilion, picnic area and public restrooms but no showers. For outdoor attractions, the park has a wading pool and hiking trails.

Meridian East-Toomsuba KOA

Meridian sits to the west of Demopolis, just across the state line in Mississippi. Like most KOA campgrounds, the Meridian East facility offers campers a mix of tent and RV sites as well as one- and two-bedroom cabins. All of the RV sites have full hookups with up to 50-amp electricity, and the largest are 73-foot pull-throughs. Telephone connections are available, but at an extra fee. Among the Meridian East-Toomsuba's features and facilities are a snack bar, outdoor swimming pool and firewood sales.
