RV Campgrounds near Richmond, KY
Situated on the southern edge of Kentucky's horse farming Bluegrass region, Richmond is a small city that offers convenient access to plenty of outdoor attractions. The Kentucky River winds its way nearby, Daniel Boone National Forest and Natural Bridge State Park are a short drive to the west, and the area immediately around Richmond remains a rural countryside of rolling hills and woodlots. RV campers will find that countryside dotted with RV parks that are well-set to meet their needs.

Fort Boonesborough State Park

Fort Boonesborough is a living history center constructed on the site of the original fort, established by Daniel Boone and other settlers after they crossed the Kentucky River in 1775. The larger state park's campground has 167 sites for RVs and camping trailers, all of which have water and electrical hook-ups. The park also accommodates tent campers. The campground is serviced by a central services building with showers and a coin laundry, and the park operates a camp store near the check-in office. Among the park's other features is a museum devoted to life and commerce on the Kentucky River in the 1900s, an outdoor swimming pool, miniature golf, fishing in the Kentucky River and hiking trails.

Oh Kentucky Campground and RV Park

The Oh Kentucky Campground and RV Park is situated in Berea, a major crafts center that is situated about 15 miles to the south. The park has 70 pull-through sites, as well as tent camping. All of the sites have water and electrical hook-ups (up to 50 amp electricity), while 42 have sewage hook-ups as well. The features and facilities include two swimming pools, coin laundry, shower house, camp store, LP gas and firewood sales, camp store and deli, and an adjacent gas station and hardware store.

Camp Nelson RV Park

Less than 20 miles west of Richmond, Camp Nelson is set on the banks of the Kentucky River, underneath the looming cliffs of the river's Palisades. The campground has 60 RV sites with full hook-ups (30 and 50 amp electricity), as well as tent camping sites. The features and facilities include a shower house, coin laundry, swimming pool, playground, boat ramp, a pedestrian bridge over the river and courts for volleyball, basketball and horseshoes. Camp Nelson's location grants easy access to fishing, canoeing and hiking.
