Situated in the far northwest corner of Louisiana, the city of Shreveport is less than 20 miles from the Texas state line. For outdoors-loving RV campers, the city and its RV parks are centrally located. The Red River runs right through Shreveport, and there are numerous lakes and waterways nearby. Pine forests and wetlands begin on the outskirts of town, making Shreveport a destination for boaters, fishermen and hikers.

Tall Pines RV Park

Voted one of the top 100 RV Parks by the national Good Sam RV Club and designated a top 300 RV park by "Trailer Life" magazine, Tall Pines caters to travelers and short-term visitors. The park's RV sites have full hook-ups with 30 and 50 amp electricity, and are spacious enough to readily accommodate slide-outs and awnings. Features include free WiFi, free cable TV, a bath house, a coin laundry, an RV parts and supplies shop, a camp store, barbecue grills, a swimming pool and propane sales. While not a forested RV park, most of the sites do have a shade tree or two.

Campers RV Center

Campers RV Center is a campground and RV and power sports sales center. The campground has 58 sites with full hook-ups and 50 amp electricity. RV supplies and parts are available at the adjacent sales center, and the park's other facilities include a recreation hall, swimming pool and coin laundry.

Miss Ellie's RV Park

Miss Ellie's may be located across the state line in Texas, but Shreveport is so close to that state line that the RV park is only 16 miles from the city ring road. RV sites feature full hook-ups with up to 50 amp electricity. Other facilities and features include a coin laundry, a shower house, free WiFi, a fitness room and propane sales. The park is pet-friendly, and while it is not forested, there are shade trees around most of the RV sites.

Lake Bistineau State Park

Located a little more than 20 miles to the east of Shreveport, Lake Bistineau is the closest state park to the city. It offers 61 campsites with water and electrical hook-ups. Rental cabins are also available at the park. Facilities include a coin laundry, a comfort station, a playground, a picnic area and a dump station. There is also a fishing pier, a boat launch, a swimming pool and beach, and 10 miles of hiking trails.
