Campgrounds Around Sweetwater, Texas
Sweetwater, Texas is a mid-sized community to the west of Abilene. Lake Sweetwater Municipal Park offers visitors to the area opportunities to fish for bass and crappie. Kayakers and canoeists will enjoy paddling on the lake. The rolling, pastoral hills and roads of the region offer many routes for road bicycling. Lake Colorado State Park is to the west of Sweetwater and visitors can take advantage of hiking trails, biking opportunities and lake fishing.

Sweetwater RV Park

Guests staying at the Sweetwater RV Park can enjoy sites with full hookups and a range of amenities. Hookups include 50-amp electric, water, sewer and optional cable TV. The park is pet-friendly. Many sites are tree-shaded. Guests may use the showers, bathrooms, and picnic/barbecue facilities. Lake Colorado State Park is within a 30-minute drive of the Sweetwater.

Abilene KOA

The Abilene KOA is within 30 miles of Sweetwater and offers RV and tent campers a variety of amenities. RV sites can accommodate rigs to 90 feet. There is 50-amp electric, water and sewer available at RV sites. Tent sites have level tent-pitch areas and access to fresh water spigots for drinking and cooking. All guests may use the park's showers, bathrooms, picnic areas, and guest rooms. The KOA allows pets, and there is a dog walk where off-leash play is allowed. Guests can take a day trip to the Abilene Zoo, or the Buffalo Gap Historic Village.

Lake Colorado State Park

Visitors to the Sweetwater area can opt to camp at the Lake Colorado City State Park. RV and tent campsites are available at the park. RVs can choose sites with 50-amp electric, or sites with electric and water hookups. There is a dump station on the grounds. Tent campers have access to fresh water, bathrooms and showers. Pets must be leashed at all times in the park. The park provides opportunities for fishing, hiking, and biking.
