Campgrounds Near Cleveland, Georgia
Located in White County in the mountainous region of northeast Georgia is the town of Cleveland. The area surrounding the town offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing and opportunities to view wildlife. The Chattahoochee Forest, Anna Ruby Falls and Smithgall Woods Conservation Park are in close proximity to Cleveland and draw visitors from around the country. Campers will not be disappointed in their choices of woodsy campsites that are private and secluded.

Unicoi State Park

Located in the Chattahoochee National Forest is the mountainous Unicoi State Park. Unicoi is two miles north of Helen and 10 miles north of Cleveland. The 1,050-acre park offers spectacular scenery, as well as a 53-acre lake for swimming and fishing. There are 82 campsites offering water, electric, fire rings, grills and a picnic table. Sites are shady and private. There are 33 walk-in sites and a squirrel's nest camping area, for those desiring more privacy. The park has a lodge, conference center, picnic shelters, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a fishing dock. There are eight miles of both hiking and mountain biking trails that lead to the city of Helen, as well as Anna Ruby Falls.

De Soto Falls Recreation Area

De Soto Falls Recreation Area, operated by the Forest Service, is located within the Chattahoochee National Forest and is 15 miles from Cleveland. The park, situated on 630 wooded acres, offers two camping loops with 24 campsites. The upper loop is best suited for tents, as RVs will have trouble navigating the loop. The campground does not have pull-through sites. Campsites are woodsy, private, and have picnic tables and grills. The park offers bathrooms, showers and several water spigots. Anglers can fish for trout in Frogtown Creek, and hikers can hike four miles to Neel Gap Trail, which connects to the Appalachian Trail. There are two one-mile trails leading to the park's two waterfalls. The campground is six miles from Vogel State Park, which offers 17 miles of hiking and backpacking trails and a 22-acre lake for fishing.

Jenny's Creek Campground

Located five miles north of Cleveland is the lushly forested Jenny's Creek Campground, situated on Jenny Creek. The campground offers tent camping sites located along Jenny Creek and other sites that are large and shady. Campsites include full hookup, with 30-amp service, water and electricity; or primitive sites, which are more private and are only for tents. The campground offers a laundry facility, bathrooms, showers, a fishing pond, firewood and a camp store, and pets are welcome. The campground runs various specials throughout the year. Guests can participate in gem mining and gold panning directly at the campground. Hikers and anglers are only two miles from Smithgall Woods Conservation Park, which offers 23 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, and trout fishing on Dukes Creek. De Soto Falls is approximately 10 miles from the campground, offering hiking and fishing opportunities.
